Geo-Targeting

To enable geo-blocking and/or geo-filtering:

  1. Turn the relevant switches on or off to:

    • Enable or disable Geo-Blocking, that is, preventing the user from logging in based on their location.

    • Enable or disable Geo-Filtering, that is, filtering content based on the user’s location.

  2. For each enabled option, select whether the targeting is based on:

    • No Validation – no blocking or filtering happens.

    • Billing Address – blocking/filtering is based on the user’s billing address.

    • Account Profile – blocking/filtering is based on the content targeting filter specified in the account profile that applies to the user's account (which, in turn, is defined as a custom location option in the Content Targeting Groups tab).

    • Geo Details – blocking/filtering is based on the user’s location (country only) as obtained by IP geolocation.

  3. Select the country/countries in which the user can consume content, either by selecting countries to include (Enabled Locations) or exclude (Restrict Selected Locations).

  4. Optionally (for geo-blocking only), enable the Block Based on Account Location switch to block sign-on if the subscriber’s detected location (from their IP address) is different from their billing address.

This is different from Content Targeting Groups at the content level which can be based on country, city, Designated Market Areas (DMAs), or custom details.

Here, you can only select countries from preconfigured location groups; you cannot create new location groups here.
