These release notes are divided into two sections, together covering the end-to-end solution:

OpenTV Video Platform

Release summary

This release comes with improvements in the Operator Console that will help to handle content deletion as a bulk operation or shorten/extend live events for catch-up. We are also adding the integration with Gracenote ON for data ingestion.

Bulk delete nodes (select multiple to delete)

Customers will have the ability to manage the deletion of content as a bulk operation.

This release includes support for bulk deletion, in a similar manner to the existing bulk copy and movement of nodes.

New Content Builder – ensuring production readiness

Content Builder has been rebuilt from the ground up, resulting in important performance improvements.

Search Façade improvements

The search syntax used by Search Façade has been updated to align it with SAS, making it easier to use and ensuring consistent search results.

Content metadata ingestion via Gracenote ON

For customers who use Gracenote as their metadata provider, we have created a new OPF service to ingest data from Gracenote On APIs.

This new service will allow OPF to ingest data from Gracenote more efficiently – we can now ingest just the changes to the metadata since the last import (deltas). This allows the service to be more efficient in its data processing, reducing the time taken to import metadata, allowing the service to be configured to run more frequently if required and resulting in less overall load on downstream services.

Shortening/extending ongoing live event in OpConsole doesn't reflect changes on CU CaptureJob

This feature has been created to address an issue related to shortening/extending ongoing live events.

One of the most common operations during live events for certain customers is to shorten a certain live event as it is going to finish earlier than the original scheduled time.

This requires the end time of the event to be changed while the event is being still broadcasted and for its duration to be shortened.

This is feasible using OpConsole, but such duration changes were not being reflected to the WFM LTCU_Capture job attached to the event.

Release summary

ION Q2 release, 23.33.110, includes the following features and bug fixes.

The features included as part of this release are:

Simplified recording screen:
1. UEX improvements to simplify scheduling and managing single and series recording.
2. Added the options to schedule and manage "All new episodes " within new UEX improvement workflow.
3. Supports confirmation popups for cancellation and deletion of recording.
4. Simplified cancellation of ongoing series of recording – only cancel series of recording is allowed now.

1. Replay screen can be configured to go directly to the list of channels.

This ION release, 23.20.030, includes the below features and bug fixes and this is released as part of ION-Q1.2023-GA.

New product features

The features included as part of this release are:

React Native upgrade to 0.67.4
The React Native version has been upgraded to 0.67.4 from 0.63.4.
User experience improvements on 'channel list' ordering starting from default channel number, page up/down function via CH+/CH- in guide screen are added.
User experience improvements: 1) All default channels to be set which is used on first start of the application, 2) Page up/down navigation introduced to the Guide screen using the CH+/CH- remote buttons.
Support for STCU tagging as live and VOD
Enhance client capability of presenting broadcast information, to adjust a flexibility on the CMS to be able to tag a content as both live and VOD scope.
iOS support for Orientation API
Adaptation to orientation of API changes and also maintaining the backward compatibility across iOS versions for the orientation changes.
Additional ImageService integration support
Cast & Crew is added as an enhancement to the existing feature.
Enriching player error payload reported to DWH with httpProcessing information for OTVPlayer
Additional information passed to the platform when errors raised by the player.

Additional Support for Tizen TVs – support for Tizen for 2020 and above TV models with new features – SSO, nPVR support in all parts of UI, playback controls (forward and rewind), analytics (UAV reporting for playback errors, Firebase), and media card features (favorites and reminder)
IMDS Support – integration of image service into client devices eliminates the need for IHS redirects and improves the image serving speed via WebP format and the design changes are done not to redirect and serve the image in place.
