Metrics and analytics

Insight uses the following metrics and analytics.

Quality of Experience (QoE)

This score summarizes all of the Quality of Service metrics by taking the worst of them all. QoE is used in:

Buffering rate

This is the number of buffering events per unit of time. The buffering rate is used in:

Buffering ratio

This is the percentage of time during which the playback was buffering. The buffering ratio is used in:

Average bitrate

This is the average bitrate of the playback per unit of time. The average bitrate is used in:

Average bitrate downgrades

This is the average number of times that a bitrate downgrade occurred per unit of time. Average bitrate downgrades are used in:

Average bitrate switches

This is the average number of times that there was a bitrate switch per unit of time. Average bitrate switches are used in:

Framedrops

This is the average number of frames dropped per second per unit of time. Framedrops are used in:

Time-to-start

This is the elapsed time from when the user presses Play until the first frame of the video is displayed. It generally includes the first buffering event. Time to start in used in:

Failed sessions

This is the number of sessions that failed to start. These sessions do not generate QOE KPIs as they did not start. Failed sessions are used in:
