Create templates
Templates are used to create and contain layouts in Rails Builder.
You can have multiple layouts in a template and define the active status of each one individually.
Create a template
To create a template in Rails Builder:
In the Templates panel on the left, click New Template.
Click the globe icon
and choose a locale for the template.Complete the following fields:

Name | Enter a name for the template. |
Title | Enter a title for the template. |
Tenant ID | If your deployment is a shared deployment, enter your tenant ID. |
Additional Properties (optional) | Click Add Property to add any additional properties that your interface may use. |
Blueprint (optional) | Select a blueprint to apply predefined values to this template. |
Layout | |
Name | Enter a name for the layout. |
Title | Enter a title for the layout. |
Destination Selection | The destinations are the devices on which the layout will appear. The default is All Devices. To set the destination to selected devices only, choose Selected. If you chose Selected, you can choose one or more of these destinations under Layout Destinations:

Default Rail Image Orientation | Select the required default image orientation for rail images. Note: this setting can be overridden in the rail settings. |
Additional Properties | Add any additional properties that are required for the layout. These enable you to apply additional formatting to templates according to your organisation's requirements. |
When you are ready to create the template, click Create Template and then Continue.
The template is displayed, showing the initial (blank) layout. To continue building your template, refer to:
Create a child template
To build nested page structures, you can drag one template under another.
Alternatively, to create a new child template:
Select Add Child Template from the template 3-dot menu.
Follow the instructions for creating a template (as above).
Click Create Template to save the child template.
